Professor Dobbins is from Johnston City, Illinois, graduated its high school, attended John A. Logan College for two years on full scholarship, and then went to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At UIUC, Dobbins graduated with the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies in 1984 and the Master of Architecture and Master of Business Administration in 1986. Dobbins joined the architecture faculty at SIUC in 1990. He currently teaches Architectural Structures I and III and Building Technology III. He serves as the graduate advisor to all master’s degree students and is head of the Master of Architecture program.

Though just developing and releasing the Construction Documents and Services Course for PREPARE in 2011, John has been part of the the PREPARE team since its founding in 2002. The name of the company PREPA.R.E., Inc. was suggested to us by John.
