Mr. Mitalski’s most significant experience was as a structural design engineer at Skilling Ward Magnusson Barkshire (now Magnusson Klemencic Associates), recognized as one of the world’s leading structural engineering firms. In October of 2002, Mr. Mitalski founded PREPA.R.E., Inc (PREPARE) on the premise of providing continuing education and consulting structural engineering services to the architecture community.

In January of 2004, Mr. Mitalski was named the 2004 Hilfinger Faculty Fellow in Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Architecture. Mr. Mitalski has remained a part of the University of Illinois community as a Visiting Assistant Professor. Mr. Mitalski’s teaching responsibilities include the following graduate level courses: Seismic Analysis and Design, Structural Masonry Design, Advanced Structural Planning and co-teaching an architectural design studio with Professor Kevin Hinders. In 2005, Mr. Mitalski and Mr. Hinders entered into a professional partnership giving PREPARE the resources to provide educational, planning, architecture and engineering services.
